Won't happen. Rome spread their military too far and the people couldn't defend themselves from Barbarian invaders. Plus Constantinople took half the resources. On the other hand, if anyone tries to invade the U.S, even if 100% of our military is deployed, the 2nd ammendment will teach the world what a real insurgency is. And we won't pull this bomb innocent woman and children and then hide behind woman in a mosque crap they pull. We will stand and fight.

The question is flawed, since you are not asking if the United States will go down as the Romans did, but rather Why they will do down. Do you know something we do not? That the fall of the united States is coming soon?

It's already happening.
We have "leaders" who are in total lust with their power and privilege, and the masses of Citizens are increasing disenfranchised and abused / neglected / underpaid. For God's sake, Emperor Bush [and yes, he IS more of an Emperor than a President] suspended Habeus Corpus last year -- absolutely galling, and I can't believe people didn't riot in the streets. Well, I'm actually not surprised -- since that obscene action didn't interfere with their television viewing schedule, they were unmoved and unperturbed.
But it's starting to change. More and more people want us out of Iraq, and the politicians refuse to do it. People will eventually wake up and remember [or realize for the first time] that politicians are supposed to do what the People want -- they're not in power to just rule autonomously. The problem of course is that even physically overthrowing the government would be bloody -- the White House is actually quite heavily armed. Remember that part of the Constitution that gives us the right to PHYSICALLY remove and leader who is abusing his power? That means we're SUPPOSED to be able to march right up to the White House's front door and demand that the President leave office. But do you think we could do that nowadays? Hardly. So any coups will be bloody, and will escalate. Ho hum....

If the US were to fail as the Romans did, then it will be for the same reasons: A complacent population that is no longer productive, relying on foreign influences to provide our basic means of subsistence and no longer providing service to the state, and a ruling class that is more concerned with hedonistic self-gratification than with concern for the citizenry.
Gee, does sound like we're doomed to follow the Romans.

Hello,
The Roman Empire lasted the longest of any...700 years.
All countries and empires rise eclipse, have their twilights and fall. There are many factors which bring them down from over extension to economics, disease etc. In my opinion, God or the gods never really seem to care about material earthly empire and their duration. They come and go no matter what the beliefs ot gods are.

Bound to go down sometime or other. Nothing lasts for ever.
But not in the same way as the Romans did.

The Mayan civilation began to decline when their arts were no longer original and became only copies of those from the past. Mayan history.
How many remakes have you seen coming out of Hollywood?
How much "great music" have you heard lately?
How many religions are going backwards?

And you're saying that we haven't already?
Think of it...Roman society were exploiters. They built a society that was bases of exploiting other societies, sealing themselves off from what they perceived to be barbarians.
The barbarian attacks were just s symbol that the society had already crumbled. It was already politically corrupt, morally bankrupt, and incapable of sustained economy by that time.
So ask yourself. By the time that we went to "war" against terror. Did those conditions already exist?
We have already collapsed. It's just a question of how long it takes for people to realize it and react.
