Well, it's difficult to prosecute a dead person.

It's illegal, but you won't be put in jail if you attempt it.
You can be arrested but then you'll be "certified", which basically means that a judge or a doctor will make a legal claim that you need psychiatric help and you'll be put in a psychiatric hospital. I don't think you'll get a criminal record for it either.

It depends on the state/country.
In the US, suicide is legal in all sates, though attempted suicide is prohibited in a few -- but none of those make attempted suicide a capital offense.
In other countries, some do prohibit suicide -- and punish the estate of the person (confiscation) if the attempt is successful.

As to your question yes it is. I should know i tried it, fortunately it didn't work. I got in alot of trouble though i had psychiatrist at my backside telling me that i am mentally ill, how embarrassing.
If you or any one is thinking of trying it don't it's useless and painful both to you, your family and friends. Holla babes

Yes it is, and they can punish you for attempted suicide, much like attempted murder.

yes it is,, in all states, its illegal to try it though, if you succeed they cant arrest you
