It would have to be the egg, there is no such thing as a "chiken".

I don't know why people keep asking this question. One would think that those who want to know would first search for the question (right up there under where it says ask-answer-discover) and find out what has been said so many times before.

One theory goes like this. Dinosaurs laid eggs. Birds evolved from dinosaurs. So it follows that the first birdlike dinosaurs came from eggs and all the birds including chickens evolved along the way. The egg then would have come first.

It depends on what you believe in. Creationists believe that the chicken came first. Evolutionists believe that the chicken came first too, but only after millions of years.

has to be the egg and the egg was laid by some sister/brother animal to a chicken.....cant have a chicken if u don't have an egg first...that's how they incubate and hatch to be alive....

the chicken. b/c God created all animals and so there was the cicken who then produced the egg to start the whole cycle.
