Sure, secrets slipped can equal devastation, plans to harm and result in affects/reactions that can surprise those that are simply talking off the tops of their heads, more than giving away pointed secrets.
For ex. two birdbrains talking about how a jewelry store owner carries the diamonds himself (because he's cheap, etc.) - can result in the death, mugging etc. of a man, due to two dingbat counter-girls yapping at a mall food court.

They might. That phrase was a WWII propaganda slogan. Meaning that you could say the wrong thing to a spy that would cost American lives.
