If you have 3 at bats in which you walk and ground out and get a single you are 1 for 2 and your batting average is .500 and your OBP is .667

If you walk and sac fly and get a single you are 1 for 1. your batting average is 1.000 and your OBP is .667

So sacrifices hurt that relationship. Pitchers get low at bat totals and are often asked to bunt or sacrafice a runner over. There low at bat totals make this more evident.

walks... hit by pitch and i think reaching on error go to your on base percentage. your batting average depends on getting hits.

Hit a sac fly or two, and never draw a walk.

It does'nt make sense. Maybe if you are thrown out at second while going for a double you get credit for the hit but no credit for being on base. i am not sure how they score that though.
