In the 80's, I saw a movie on one of the movie channels that I really enjoyed. It took place in Australia, where a school teacher has to protect her students from some bad guys lurking about.

Details I remember include the teacher leading the kids through the outback to get away from the bad guys, they entered a cave and swam underwater to get through to the other side of the cave, and at the end of the movie, the camera slowly zoomed in on one of the bad guys' heart in a jar on the window sill of the schoolhouse.

Others have gotten answers based on fewer details, and you guys are extremely resourceful...I KNOW someone knows this! Thanks!

Fortress (1986)...

"Fortress" explores a shocking concept which shows how easily a borderline between a victim and an attacker can be crossed. The children and the teacher, calm and peaceful by nature, when driven beyond their limits by the kidnappers, eventually respond with a cruelty and fury extending that of their oppressors.
