Subbed anime SUCKS!!! It is clear and research shows that MOST Americas actually prefer to watch the dubbed anime. It's only the people who are super obsessed with anime who actually waste their time hunting down subbed anime because they want to complain about a dub by any means they can. Here are some reasons why subbed anime sucks:
1. It's absolutly retarded to rely on words when you are not even sure they are accurate regardless of who subs the anime.
2. You can't really enjoy a show as much because your constantly reading even if you read fast or slow.
3. It's the EXACT same show except for three things that may be missing: swearing, sometimes blood lost, and the characters are just speaking Japanese.
4. Who cares about emotion. Fake characters, fake emotions simple.
5. If you talk to someone who lives in Japan anime is like their cartoons to them like cartoons are to us Americans and it's not worshiped or obsessed like typical anime freaks feel today.

Sorry to those hardcore subbed anime lovers but you have to admit. A lot of anime freaks are obseessed about subbed anime and ALWAYS complain about a good dub despite how many people like it or hate it.

Heheheh. I can understand your frustration. But just ignore those people. Those people are probably my age (I'm 29). We grew up with HORRIBLY dubbed anime. And I mean it was bad. REAL BAD. The timing was off, the translation was bad, and the editing was awful.
But as the years went by, anime dubbing has gotten better and better. So young people like yourself have only been exposed to great English-dubbed anime. That's great! So I think the people who whine and complain are those who were forced to watch those older animes with horrible English dubs.
Fortunately, I'm not one of those people heheheheh. After watching anime for over 25 years, I've noticed that nowadays, in some cases, the English dubbing is BETTER than Japanese dubbing. But like you said, today, dubbed is just as good as subbed in my opinion. I have just as many favorite English voice actors/actresses as Japanese (fav. English is Wendee Lee, fav. Japanese is Megumi Hayashibara).
But just ignore those people who whine and complain. I mean, if you enjoy anime, great! Those people who like subbed animes should just enjoy it too. Personally, I enjoy watching BOTH the English and Japanese versions. Thank goodness DVDs now have both options. Best wishes. =)

I'll agree with you on one thing: The general public doesn't want subtitles.
However,
(1) Dubs are in general of lower quality. There's not as much money in doing dubs as in the original voice-acting, and therefore it attracts lesser talent. For example, how many dubs do you think Frank Welker (one of the top English voice actors) works on? Top Japanese voice actors are doing the original anime soundtracks.
(2) Dubs are constrained by mouth movements animated to match a completely different language. Dub scriptwriters often have to compromise on what they REALLY want to say, because it wouldn't fit in with the animated lip flaps. The original scriptwriters are not so constrained -- they write the dialog and then the animation is done to match it. You complain that "it's retarded to rely on words that MAY not be accurate," but why is it better to rely on (spoken) words that MUST not be accurate because of additional constraints?
(3) It's NOT necessarily "the exact same show." Some dubs completely change the character of the show. Cardcaptor Sakura was butchered into Cardcaptors when dubbed -- solely because the network didn't think a female lead was a good idea. Episodes were thrown out, others were heavily cut, all so that her main rival would get equal billing just because he's male. Crayon Shinchan's adult swim incarnation is in some ways funnier than the original, but it's not even close to the same show. Ghost Stories wasn't even a comedy in Japan (it was sort of a mediocre version of Scooby-Doo), but was changed into one when dubbed.
You may have trouble enjoying a show while reading, and I'm sure lots of people feel similarly, but I've never had a problem with it.
There are plenty of people in Japan who are at least as obsessed with anime as people in the USA. Do a little research on Otaku culture, and I'm sure you'll be shocked.
Anyway, I don't see it as a big issue. Most modern anime DVDs come with both sub and dub, so the one product suits both sides. I often watch dub soundtrack with the wife and kid because that is what they prefer. I thank the legions of dub-loving folks, who make it easier to bring Japanese stuff over here.

Kay, basically I like subbed and dubbed animes, as long as the dub voices don't suck I can deal. I watch most of my anime on the internet because either the shows I like aren't on the air or because I want to watch it at my own pace, and on the internet all that they have is subbed episodes anyway so...I'm not necessarily 'hunting down' subs, I just get what I get.

Well there's some good and bad with sub's
I speak Japanese so I don't need them and for the most part the sub's are pretty close...just some words and phrases don't translate well... Still in some cases your right the words say one thing but the actors are telling a diff story...Still that happens less often than your suggesting
I'm not a big fan of Dub as they will censor the original script...
God the English version of one piece was butchered! That's one they should have left alone!

I liked subbed over dubbed. I love the way it sounds, it just makes everything so much sweeter.
And I know I'm watching it how it was meant to be seen and heard. I like the original over American edited version with voice overs.
Plus I think they're very few good voice actors for anime in America.
Not only that, I watch whole series or I'm complete up-to date with running series and watch each new episode each week. If I watch dubbed, I would have to wait a a long time to watch.....
And I think you're a little ignorant on what anime really is in Japan. Anime is not just their cartoons. They're is a huge difference between what American's know about the concept of cartoons verse anime in japan. Yes there are shows that are just like cartoons but theres more than that.
To keep this short, cartoons are geared at kids. Anime ranges from kids to mature adults with violence and nudity.
another difference is that cartoons usually don't follow a continuous plotline. Anime is closer to a giant movie or soap operas. Each episode of a cartoon can stand alone.
I don't know why you're lashing out about this. Why would it matter, obviously you don't like "anime freaks", so you prolly don't like anime anyways so why waste your time?

Yeah, subbed anime gets annoying, I speak japanese, but sometimes all I find on websites are episodes in japanese, with annoying little words at the bottom of the screen, and if you ask me, it makes the picture less clear than without subs

i think TRUE anime lovers, not people who just watch cartoon network, like and prefer subbed anime. the crap that comes on cartoon network is murdered so much it is not really anime anymore, it's an american cartoon.
and i really do not have a problem READING what people are saying. the meaning of the show is left intact in Subbed. why watch a show if the emotion is not there.

I would rather watch subbed because Nihongo / Japanese language sounds awesome. I enjoy it.
Oh yea and by the way I talk to people in Japan everyday kthanks.
They have an anime channel that plays anime all the time.
It doesn't "suck" just some people like it more than others. ^_^
