To listen and observe an enemy's proposterous finagling would give you a better insight to their weakness,and cause you to understand why you betrayed your friend in the first.

It is better to be a good listener to your enemies.Look at it this way at least you'll be helping someone and hey you never know something good might come out of it...like friendship.Sounds difficult but I've seen it happen before.

Being a back biter to a friend just make another enemy to deal with. Listening helps to understand even though you may not agree.
