You want to start with a hook, so have a quote or a joke that relates to cheating. or even a personal story would be good.

If you are writing a persuasive essay and want to convince someone not to cheat then you are not writing a persuasive essay about why people cheat. That would be an informative essay. If you really want to persuade someone not to cheat form an introductory paragraph that points out how cheating really is not beneficial to the cheater in the long run. Then proceed to explain why that is the case with some examples of the results of cheating.

I'm not writing your first paragraph for you, but I'll give you some ideas.
1. Start off with a good topic sentence that connects the reader to potential personal experiences such as "At one point or another you have probably seen somebody cheat" or something like that (note: that is not a full sentence, it is a fragment).
2. List potential reasons that people would cheat: choosing the easy way out, needing to get a certain grade for something that they want, trying to pass impossible classes, etc.

That dark pit in the stomach, that pain in the heart. Everything is different now and there is nothing that can ever change that, and it isn't over yet. Next are the lies, covering your tracks, fear whenever the phone rings. Whether it was a spontaneous one night stand or a innocent relationship that got out of hand, the damage is done; you cheated.

Considering how much people use this site to try to get other people to do their homework, I have to wonder if this isn't an ironic joke?
If not, you might use that joke as the start.... "I had trouble thinking of a sharp introduction to this essay on cheating, so I decided to go online and ask for someone to make one up for me."

Cheating. We've all done it at some point in our lives. At the time, it doesn't seem like a big deal, but truly it is......
Have you ever had someone cheat off of you? It's not exactly fun......
