It angers me that the government has the ability to vote over our rights. (Note that I am not venting, I'm giving my opinion, so I'm not violating community guidelines). If we were created equal, as that is pretty much the idea of America, how do they have the right do deny the GLBT equal rights? They may not like it (on a personal level, senator to senator, etc.) but it doesn't give them the right to take away our rights. I believe this is religious morals-- which is another issue out country was founded on. The seperation between Church and State! Where has it gone, where are these unalienable rights that I was supposed to born with going? So, what's your take on the matter? What can we do, as a community? You can't honestly expect us to sit back and quietly say "okay" as they try and pass anti-gay laws. I do believe we are making progress, but politically, there may be enough opposition, and we really can't afford to have much of it.

Hmm, the last time I checked the Constitution, it stated that ALL citizens were to have equal rights, not "just the straight ones."
Anyone who supports the Constitution, and the separation of church and state, should join us fighting for equal rights for all US citizens.

I don't care what someone's "likes" or has as their beliefs. It comes down to law, and equality, pure and simple.

There has never really been a separation of church and state. Our laws are based on the Judeo-Christian ethic which was the predominat mindset of the initial settlers.

The state will do whatever it wants, we have not had a voice for a long time. We can no longer travel at will, choose our habits or discipline our children, there are laws to govern all of that. There are also laws that step into our bedrooms and decide how we are going to practice our sexuality regardles of what that sexuality is.

It is illegal for a housewife in Mississippi to have an adult toy party in her home. That state has decided that the women there are not allowed to have vibrators to use with their husbands. How do you think the gay community is represented?

Start getting used to it, it gets worse every day and soon the greater majority of our freedoms will be gone. And the sad thing? We by apathy are letting it happen.

you're not alone. in fact, you're better off than many people. in many parts of africa, anti-gay laws are not about keeping gays out of churches, government or schools. it is about execution in the form of stoning.

but as a middle class citizen i feel your pain.

only thing to do is keep fighting. feminism took about 400 years to work. we've only been out the closet for about 40 yrs (since stonewall)....

Get two transgendered people to marry and then make a political stink over it and then ask why!

Demand that politicians give up their gay lovers!
