No way. I am conservative. I believe in my core values. There is no reason for me to compromise. Liberals have it wrong. If they cannot see the light, too bad for them.

You say you think this will benefit people as a whole but in your right wing leaning version of compromise the poor starve, can't get treatment when they are ill etc. This will cause the dying abandoned masses to overthrow your "compromise" regime.

Some Christians and other religious people see gay marriage, abortion etc as against their human rights.

What you consider a half and half fair deal will not seem so to every one else. What I would consider a compromise would probably seem totally unreasonable to you.

That is why compromise in politics never seems to work very well. But it was a nice thought, why can't we all just get along a?

Extremism in the defense of the rights, liberties and freedoms guaranted by the Constitution is not wrong. Compromising constitutional or personal principles is not a virtue.

Some of the things you seek people to compromise on are important issues to them.

What we need to do is agree on some goals and visions for America's future and then determine what the best Constitutional method is for achieving those.

I have to agree with regerugged. If you have core values that are important to you, by all means stand by them. Some of the choices you've presented may be reasonable, others are just plan non-negotiable. It changes for each person. By the way, I'm am one of those moderates who support some 'liberal' issues and some 'conservative' stances. One of the things I support is regerugged's right to his stances.

I like the ideas. But there would be no way all those sacred cows would go down at one time.
