What he did was wrong and cruel, but do you think that the media should be THIS concerned about the Mike Vick animal cruelty case? I think that the media has had a vendetta against Vick for a while and have been waiting for him to slip up. What do you think?

Yes, I do think the media should be this concerned and more so.The more information that is put out about this horrible crime that is going on everyday in this country, the more people will understand and become aware of it, and start to do something to stop it. Their target is not "Sick Vick", their target is to inform people of the cruelty and brutality, and barbarism of what he and so many others are doing.

Apparently the evidence against him is very strong - irrefutable some say. If it is true he should have known better that something like this might jeopardize his career, and rightfully so. Its bad enough when anybody treats animals this way, but to have somebody that should have known better do it is probably worse. If he's guilty he should spend some time in jail - pro NFL quarterback or not, because if it is true its reprehensible. Cruelty to animals is one of the first signs of being a serial killer. He should be punished if he is guilty.

Any sensational news article involving a celebrity is completely blown out of proportion due to the modern 24-hour media machine. Do we, as a society, really need daily coverage of Lindsay Lohan's substance abuse problems? No, but there is that fascination we have when the exalted are brought low, and that makes for high ratings.

I think the media is blowing way out of proportion. People are caught for offenses like this all the time and the media doesn't even look at them. The media sees a football star with a cocky attitude that can be an easy target and popularity booster for the media.

Yes. Pharmaceutical companies show the same indifference to animals every day, in medical research. Clubbing of seals is more than offensive. And then there is the little matter of crimes against human beings. Did someone say kiddie porn? Can you spell Darfur? Does trafficking in human slavery raise an eyebrow of concern? Somewhere along the line, Vick thought what he was doing was a good idea, and good place to use his money. The man has more money than sense. What's so newsworthy about that?

As someone who has owned and enjoyed the companionship of dogs all his life, it's easy for me to understand why there is so much outrage and media coverage of this. Dogs are wonderful creatures that deserve to live their lives in comfort and security.

Certainly, there are working dogs -- herders and hunters, for example -- perform services for their owners. I know of no category of dogs that are fighters and killers. Anyone from a peasant to a potentate who raises dogs for pursuing a blood sport deserves all the vituperation the media and the public can heap upon them.

Even worse is that this case involves someone whom we expect to behave in a mature, intelligent manner, someone who should have the good sense to be mindful of having the skills and a career that millions of guys could only dream of having.

The media love to recount tales of flagrant stupidity in high places. They're going to beat on this one like a kid pounds on a cheap drum.
