It's not uncommon to feel lightheaded or dizzy occasionally. When you're pregnant, your cardiovascular system undergoes dramatic changes: Your heart rate goes up, your heart pumps more blood per minute, and the amount of blood in your body expands by 40 to 45 percent. Most of the time, your cardiovascular and nervous systems are able to adjust to all these changes, but occasionally they don't, which can leave you feeling lightheaded or a bit dizzy.
No matter what the cause, lie down as soon as you feel lightheaded or dizzy, so you won't fall and hurt yourself if you do faint. If you're in a place where it's impossible to lie down, sit down and try to put your head between your knees. And naturally, if you're doing anything that might put you or others at risk for injury, such as driving, stop right away.
Lying on your left side will maximize the blood flow to your heart — and thus to your brain. It will likely keep you from actually fainting and may relieve the sensation of lightheadedness altogether.
Also, pay close attention to what may be triggering your dizziness. Don't go too long w/o eating b/c this lowers your blood sugar and can cause you to feel dizzy. Don't get over heated, and be sure to get up slowly after you've been sitting down.

Welcome to the club. I wasn't dizzy, faint, or light-headed when I was pregnant with my son. I've been getting dizzy this time around since about 4 weeks. I've fainted once when I stood up from a chair too fast. Iron can play a big role in dizziness and fainting, but so does your newly increased blood supply. Your vessels are enlarging to accomodate all the blood you have circulating. Keep your doctor updated...and be VERY careful when you stand up or go from extreme cold to extreme heat. Also keep a cell phone on you in case you faint and need help. That's all the advice I have for you though...it should go away after you deliver...whether that's a comforting thought or not. :-)

It's pretty normal to feel lightheaded and sometimes faint while pregnant, but you do want to take it easy. Your body is designed to protect baby in a fall, but you don't want to do it too often, of course.
Just keep in touch with your midwife and never get up quickly. Eat a few crackers in bed before you get up in the morning and keep snacks with you at all times. Stock your pantry and fridge and purse with nutritional snacks like nuts, fruit bars, whole wheat crackers, cheese, fruit, veggies, etc.
You may not be eating enough in general or not eating enough of certain foods. Increase your daily protein and monitor your food intake. Eat almost constantly and never be without some sort of food or snack to tide you over when you find yourself out and about. Going to your local healthfood store and getting a big bag of hearty trail mix with nuts and fruit that you will carry with you everywhere will probably help a lot. This was my favorite snack and it still is.
Good luck!

It's a blood flow thing, and it's normal. I fainted right in the middle of the checkout isles at wal mart when I was about 12 weeks along! Sources say it's from increased blood flow, you just have to take it easy. And it does get better, I promise!

i had this a lot with my first.if we went shopping i always used to faint so every time we went if i felt dizzy i would just sit down straight away on the floor.once i even sat in the fridges because i could feel myself going so i just sat on the cheeses lol!it is normal probably because your tired especially since you have other kids you get extra tired.try and relax and ask the baby's dad if he could take the load of while you have a rest.try eating little amounts frequently through the day to keep your energy up.theres nothing much you can really do about it other than make your hubby do all the chores lol and rest.

It happened a lot with me in the beginning.
Just be more slow about getting up and doing certain things. I called my doctors office after the first time because I thought it was so strange... but apparently it's pretty normal. But always... always, go with your instincts. I would always mention this kind of thing to your doctor. Better they know in case you start to show other symptoms of something more. Best of luck. And if you feel light headed lay down! Sitting won't cut it... as I found out. Take it easy and congratulations!

Fainting is more common during pregnancy. But,I would talk to you doctor. There is a good chance that your blood sugar is to low.
But, I feel it is always good to call your doctor when things get a little unusual.
I do know when it comes close to meal times, I tend to get dizzy. But, I have never fainted.

I was supposed to start on the 14th as well! and still nothing! I too have had spotting..my temps on my chart are rising! But my test keep coming back negative. If you can see a positive line then take that as a...yes, you are pregnant! wait a couple for days and retest or go to your doctor for a blood test. Good Luck

i would suggest switching from a iron tablet to a prenatal vitamin. this may help with the dizzyness. when you get dizzy you should always sit down- so that if you do faint you dont fallhard to the ground. it can be normal- but it NEVER hurts to get a second opinion. try to not overwork yourself that could be a reason you are fainting. i would worry about causing amisscarriage- if iwas fainting- or atleast worry about falling on my tummy.
