As a veteran myself I totally agree with you . I've been one of the fortunate to receive care , I'm from an earlier era than the Iraqi vets who seem to be really getting a raw deal under the current administration and it is just so , so wrong I could scream . After the Vietnam war more vets committed suicide than died in the war , there is great concern that pattern may well continue since we seem to be putting forth more humanitarian efforts to help the Iraqi people than our own soldiers . With the extended tours of duty and returning soldiers who have already put their lives on the line once it will continue to get worse . Our veterans are dealing with such low life people also as you mention that are in our prison system at home and seeing them prosecuted for not playing nice ,nice with them is a total outrage . The Commander in Chief is where the buck should stop but it's now where it begins ! He should be held fully accountable for the suffering of these veterans not getting proper care and removed from office yesterday really ! How can we back a man who said mission accomplished ? No mission is accomplished under these circumstances !

Just yesterday I saw on the news that there was some major commission on the issue of veteran support. They acknowledged the seriousness of the problem and had arrived at, I think, 6 recommendations.
They are very confident will make a significant difference in the delivery of services, and will be very doable to impliment.
Sorry I'm not good on the details of what news station, what commission, etc.

I agree, as biased as the old work gangs were. I like the ethic
Work at something and make it pay. I suspect the towns that lobby for the prisons are as much at fault, they want the old pork
barrel to have a good facade so that they can dip deep.
If the prisons did not siphon off all of the money in waste, maybe our vets would not be subject to the conditions reported at some of the VA Hospitals and our elected officials would not nickel and dime veterans benefit programs.

Isn't it a shame that we have to consider questions like this?
It's always seemed to me that both prisons and veterans treatment (and plenty of other things) fall in the category of out-of-sight, out-of-mind. As a result, we allow shamefull things to happen. I've worried that our society is just not as great as we could be, should be and pretend to be. This is an example.
The only remedy is to keep paying attention and keep begging others to pay attention. Then maybe public opinion will force our leaders and institutions (our "employees, after all) to do something about it.

Exellent point.
They even complain how war criminals are treated. They even hate moral leaders who is guided by decentcy and praise Adultrous Leaders Like Clinton. If we use perception over facts against them they scream, but that is exactly the ploy they use. Liberals=Flip flop politics, say anything to get power and to decieve. Promise the moon and give us dirt.
It is easy to be a liberal. All you have to do is have an opinion and passionately believe everything Liberal leaders say.

As a disabled Iraqi Vet, I say you are right on course! I had to wait 6 months for my first neurology appt when i got back. You would think that surviving a black hawk crash and the hell that is war would be enough to get them to want to see you, but it just isn't!

That is so sad, but so true. I used to work in a hospital and the VA used to always deny payment. Making the Vet pay. We need to support our men and women in the military! God Bless Them!

perhaps should send all prisoners from USA prison to war as pawns for finding miners or get suicide bombers so all soldiers will sit and wait until all pawn (prisoners) to wipe all out miners from road or anywhere and also to find suicide bombers no matter how many pawn will die so solider will catch up and sweep all the areas to find bad man .. will it happened or not who know eh too many prisoners in USA so time for them go to war to wipe bad guys bad guy vs bad guys sound fun eh so good guys will sit and wait sound a good strategy eh too many soldiers died because of poor strategy from big brass generals .. they sure screw up plans while sit down and drink damn coffee, eat dunkin donuts and watch Golf channel

That is one of the reasons our judicial system needs SERIOUS reviewing and change. A judge once told me that it costs an average of $30,000/year to support a prisoner with food, clothes, and other necessary facilities.
