The 20 Billion tax money, redistributed from my and your pocket to the corrupt regime in Pakistan must have been for something. Any thoughts? Did lame duck Congress approve?

It didn't buy us anything.

It bought Pakistan nuclear capable cruise missiles.

Pakistan made a truce with the Taliban that is harboring Al Queda and as such is harboring Al Queda since they will not let us go after them in Pakistan.

What happened to "no difference between terrorist networks and the countries that harbor them."

It has bought us some time. It may be infuriating to some that we pay $20 billion to a "corrupt" regime (what government is not corrupt?,,, but I agree that there is a degree more corruption in Musharaf's government) but what else are we supposed to do? We invaded Afghanistan and most people still think that was the right thing to do... Pakistan borders Afghanistan, we absolutely need some cooperation from Pakistan and this will not be done for free in a part of the world that does not care for America.

We need as many friends as we can get now... even paid friends.

It seems to have escaped your notice, but Pakistan has experienced far more terrorist attacks than any other country in the middle east, outside of Iraq. The reason for this is because of Musharaf's crack down on Al Quada.

I've never been a big Musharaf fan, or a fan of any dictator, but he's one of the best and most effective friends we have in the region. And hey, I wonder how much we gave to India.

It bought us an administration that is friendly to the US, instead of another radical Islamic regime, this time with nuclear weapons. Seems like a good investment.
