Now lets analyze this... You have to have the ring down to poop and up to pee. She has to have the ring down to poop and down to pee. That means that 75% of the bodily functions between the two of you require the lid down. I'm a guy, but I'd have to say the women are right with this one. Besides, who likes walking into the bathroom in the middle of the night to "drop the kids off at the pool" only to fall in yourself?!

This one's always bothered me a bit. Why can't everyone just look at the stupid toilet, and adjust the seat as needed?
anyone who sits down without looking is asking for trouble, anyway.
If everyone sets the seat where they need it, then the burden is shared. (As if moving the seat is such a huge hardship) If the men are required to leave the seat down, then the entire burden rests on them. (Again; not a big deal. But it's a question of fairness. Which is a big deal)
The only good argument I have ever heard is the question of toddlers sticking their head in. Okay, in a home with little ones the seat and lid should probably be kept down. Any other home has more important issues to deal with.

Do you believe people actually write dissertation on this subject! Try this one titled; Up or Down? A Male Economist's Manifesto on the Toilet Seat Etiquette.
http://www.msu.edu/~choijay/etiquette.pdf
Maybe you might want to try something like this as a solution.

Someone has turned it into a mathematical equation
http://home.tiac.net/~cri/1998/toilet.html
Less than two minutes after I posted my answer I get a thumbs down. There is no way anybody could have read these articles in that time.

Good question. Let me think.
There is a pissed off, half naked woman standing in front of you with toilet water dripping off her butt.
Should you:
A) Apologize, and say you will make an effort to put the seat down after you pee.
B) Explain to her how stupid it was not to check.
C) Discuss commode esthetics.
Well, maybe it’s just me, but a couple of these answers do seem wrong.

There was a time my ex's little brother (3-4yrs) peed on the underside of the seat and i lifted it. In her defense you being the only one to move the seat, is the only option for her because it's kinda gross. Chicks are fickle, and don't like to be questioned in 50/50 situations. that is the only reason as a guy i can give you.

The question shouldn't be "Why am I wrong?" It should be, "Is this disagreement worth our relationship?" If it isn't, let it go and be the better man (so to speak). If it is ... Well, good luck with that one.
