As a Republican, I find the continued misdeeds of the Bush administration repugnant to me. It is not a white house of integrity, at all.

Slappy, it is routine for newly elected Presidents, from the opposition party, to replace attorney generals once taking office. Reagan and Bush "senior did so, just like Clinton...turn off Limbaugh and Hannity.

Does anyone really understand what is going on with the situation?
Everyone assumes that it is only over firing a few US attorneys. if that was the case, it wouldn't be a problem. the problem goes much much deeper than that.
Gonzo tried to get the previous attorney general, to sign off on the wiretapping program, that he would not do, because he felt it to be unconstitutional. He had good reason to think so, since the Supreme court made that ruling after republicans pushed the issue on Clinton, with the very same program.
This scariest part is gonzo tried to approach his predecessor, John Ashcroft, while he lay drugged in a hospital bed thinking he could pull a fast one. After he couldn't get the job done that way, Bush appointed him attorney general so the justice department would look the other way on anything the Bush admin did.
now couple that with cleaning house of any US attorneys that likewise thought the program was unlawful, and where in the position to call investigations on state governments where Bush loyalists are trying to pull fast ones, you have a very nasty looking situation, that most republicans want to call a witch hunt?!!!!!!!!!!!!!
This is our government people, whether you are republican democrat conservative, or liberal, the government belongs to you. And that is an inconvienience to the Bush admin.
Better wake up!!!

Short of a coup de tat, what can we do? The arrogance of the WH seems to be reaching greater and great proportions. I voted for Dubya the first time and now regret it deeply. I would consider voting Republican again but only for a candidate well-removed from the current administration.

Bush just hurts himself by keeping him in his position.. and Gonzalez is under too large of a microscope to do anything unethical.. so what's to worry about.. Since his position is a post only Bush can remove him.. supporting him just shows the type of character Bush chooses to keep in power.
Let him self-destruct.

Thats what happens when Bush surrounds himself with people based on their religious views and not their intelligence. I'm not saying religious people aren't intelligent but under no circumstance does a graduate of Oral Robers university, (un-accredited) belong in government.
Michele you're comparing apples and oranges, Gonzalez was not elected, he was appointed.

Who cares I mean for real who cares .
Its not going to change the past . As they say its water under the bridge .
NOw what people will do is elect the same type of individuals to office over and over because they promise them change and the only change is which crook is now being dragged infron tof which crook who wants his place or his friend to get it .
Its all just one giant collection service that preys on the working people a who make something that can be taxed .

What was even more shocking is that Republican Spector was more hard on him than the Dems were. He tore him a new one.

If we don't wise up, we won't have anything left to be proud of.
At the very least, if you believe him, Gonzales is suffering from early onset Alzheimer's and for the good of the country he should resign.
"I don't remember."
Indeed.

I agree he's a dumbasss, but there's something even more fundamental that NO ONE has ever been able to explain to me... Why was it just peachy for Clinton to fire ALL 93 Federal prosecutors, but it's suddenly a national scandal when Bush fired a handful? Why the double standard?
EDIT: Oh, well another way to look at that is Bush decided NOT to summarily fire all 93 prosecutors, instead letting a vast majority of them stay employed if he thought they were doing a decent job. Yeah, sounds like a real ****** to me... NOT...
