I am currently on Yaz and I don't like it, I feel like I have gained weight and my hair is coming out more than normal in the shower. It has NOT helped with my pms symptoms either. I need a new brand of birth control pill.

Kariva is what I've been taking for over a year. NO side affects. My weight is stable, no appetite issues, etc.

Oh yeah, I don't have PMS issues either on Kariva. I had major PMS when not on the pill and I had major PMS on depo.

I've been on the pill for 5 years and have had no big issues at all. There are many different kinds of pills that use different hormones, some are progesterone based and others are estrogen based. The side-effects will vary and you just need to figure out which is the best for you. Each woman will react differently to different pills. I take a progesterone one and have had no issues other than the occasional cramping, but its rare and treatable. Not to mention you know what week you start, lessening the embarrassment of staining. If you are sexually active and don't want to risk getting pregnant then I highly suggest you get on the pill. I got pregnant from just doing condoms. Pull-out and rhythm method do not work either. I would suggest you speak with a female doctor or nurse practitioner. They will be able to offer you much better advice and insight than a male. Good luck and look into it.

I'm not on a pill. I have an IUD. Mirena. it is okay. I like it because I don't have to worry about taking a pill everyday. I know I am just good for the next 5 years.
Before that I was on depo & LOVED it!!!!! I had to go off of it because I was on it for way too many years, but I had no bone loss. (I've had a scan to check). When I was on depo I didn't have a period or any pms.
Now with the IUD I get my period again & it sucks!
Hope something there helps.

I'm on Yaz for severe PMDD and it has definitely saved my life, I'm no longer suicidal every month.

I'm really sorry that it isn't helping you. Definitely talk to your gyn about making a switch. BTW, do not consider the IUD, as it will worsen the pms symptoms in most cases.

No birth control pill controls PMS. You'll get it whether you're on the pill or not.

I am on Aviane (generic of Alesse) and have been taking it for seven years so far. I never gained weight on it and it has no effect on my hair. It's been quite good to me.

Check with your Gyn on what pill would be good for you.

If it's not working for you don't waste time, make an appointment and switch.

I'm not on birth control, we are trying to have #5.
