Wash the liner (the pad on the bottom of the shoe) either by hand or in the washing machine (it's the only way to remove the past smells) and as others have said sprinkle a little baking soda under it before you put it back in the shoe. You also might want to consider wearing thicker socks. The smell is caused by your feet sweating, and thicker socks will absorb the sweat so your shoes will stink less in the future.

There are a few different things you use.
1. Baking Soda
2. Febreeze
3. Talcum Powder (Gold Bond)
4. Water & Lemon Juice ---Mix the 2 (equal parts), put in a spray bottle, spray the shoes are you would if using spray starch, and let try overnight.
5. Throw the shoes in the washer and allow them to air dry
6. Buy the odor eater balls. You can find them in the shoe dept of Wal-Mart, Target, or any athletic store.
7. Water and a peppermint oil mix. (Use just the same as in #4, but use only 2 parts peppermint oil to 4 parts water.)
8. Odor Eater Insoles
Depending on how often you wear the shoes and what type of shoes they are you may need to replace the shoes completely. If you use the shoes to work out or run in you may need to buy new shoes. I usually have to buy sneakers every 4-6 months. I work out 5 times week and my shoes wear out kind of fast.
Hope this helps.

Try doing your best to clean the shows yourself by hand in&out !! Then take a scented fabric softener or one of those things that you place in the dryer with your clothes to give them that clean smell.. & leave one in each shoe over`night.. with the first one rub in `round inside the shoe best you can then wash & replace with a new fabric softner & or BABY POWDER

Do you wear socks with this pair of shoes? You could add any baby powder. Sometimes you just need to get a new pair of shoes.

You should buy some cheap fabric freshener and spray i on the inside. Let it sit for a while. Don't get anything fruity or flowery. That makes it smell HORRIBLE. lol. Try something like fresh laundry.

You can sprinkle powder in them, and there are special foot powders on the market to put in your shoes.
