I have two Convicts and one is about 5 inches long, the other about 8 inches. I just purchased a small pleco that's about 3.5 inches long. Do you think the Cons will eat the pleco? If so, what size pleco should I get?

Should I wait to see or can I get a larger one and have two?

A pleco is a bottom feeder and in the family of armored catfish. I seriously doubt the Convicts would even think or target the Pleco. But one thing you might want to consider, most people get a Pleco becasue pet stores say that's an algea eater to get people to buy one. A pleco is basically a bottom feeder like other catfish that can use algea as a food source in an emergency. It's not really necessary to have one. Also most common plecos grow to large sizes, so your tank size, if it's not at least a 55 gallon or up, you probably will want to return that pleco.

The Convicts will ignore the Pleco, don't be concerned. Plecos have armor plating that makes them very hard to eat.

im not sure if they will eat it, but a good way to go with a pleco is get one bigger or as big as the fish so it doesnt look as apetizing to the convicts
