theres still loads of agp cards around nowadays russ, and theres some great cards to choose from
your current card isnt too bad in agp terms, its uses pixel and shader model 2.0 which is good enough for vista, and will play most of todays games, however the clock speeds are pretty slow and thats the negative adpect of the fx5500
a good upgrade if you wish to stick with nvidia is the geforce 7600gt(http://www.misco.co.uk/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=274854&CatId=0),this has some great specs including a clock speed of 560mhz and a memory speed of 800mhz
and with 12 pixel pipelines and 256mb of video memory this all equates to a capable card, great for todays titles
another good card is the GeForce 7900GS 256Mb(http://www.misco.co.uk/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=274860&CatId=0),this is 100% pure power, with some brilliant specs including...core clock speed..450mhz and a 256bit memory interface, and 256mb of memory running at 1.32ghz
and also this uses the gddr3 type memory, this is basically a much faster running memory as the memory speed shows
and with 24 pixel pipelines, this card is a gamers dream, will run any games at any resolutions and with lightning fast frame rates, pure power
finally if its the best agp card you want then the Sapphire Radeon X1950Pro (http://www.scan.co.uk/Products/ProductInfo.asp?WebProductID=521950),this is a mean card,36 pixel pipelines,580mhz core clock speed and 1400mhz memory speed running a 512mb video memory, need i say more?
this is currently the fastest agp card avalible,no card can beat its electric pace,it will run any game you throw at it,however its only direct x 9,but then again most are!
this also requires 2 x 5v molex power connectors so a good psu is required(450watt or above)
all these cards are good performers, and will do a sound job, however the x1950pro is the best in my opinion, with the 7900gs coming in second, and the 7600gt last
however considering i actually use the nvidia geforce 7600gt,this shows how good the other two are
any problems russ let me know
good luck mate!

It depends upon what you want to spend- the best card available for the AGP interface is the Radeon X1950XT at around $260. The GeForce 7950GT linked by the above poster is an excellent card as well. Both are considerably better than the GeForce 7800GS, which is pretty old...

The 8800 GTX cards are the best available right now. The 8800 GTS are the 2nd best.

They each come in a variety of memory sizes, so pricing will be according to amount of RAM on the card.

Here's your absolute best: http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=3143302&CatId=2513

OOPS...sorry the other poster is right, these are PCI-E cards not AGP.
