wizzards...that is not entirely true. He also studied Islam. However never proclaimed faith in it.
I do not hold this against him...I studied several religions, including Islam. That did not make me Muslim, or even respect that hateful religion.
The Islam thing is not what I do not like about him. It is that he is all style and no substance. He is like every other democrat. "Vote for me because I am not a republican" is all they have....or "I will go after Osama, though I have no plan, but it sounds good."
The reality is that they have no vision, no platform, no plan. Their entire platform is "vote for dems because we are not reps."
Adam...I have studied a wide variety of religion. I have read the Koran and studied it in depth. I have also talked to about 25 former muslims. 100% of the say that Islam is ABSOLUTELY VIOLENT AND FILLED WITH HATE! Not a few 100%! Get this and get it good. There is nothing peaceful about Islam. Throw into the mix that nearly every (if not every) conflict in the world today involves muslims...not a great track record for peace.

Actions always speak louder than words. You will here all of his supporters deny his affiliation with Islam. Still others will do the typical mud slinging and accuse the republicans of all sorts of maliciousness and lies. Here's the bottom line of Islam, modeled after Judeism, a child born of a Muslim father is to be raised as a Muslim. When entering the ungodly world of politics, it is best to study well in advance those you want electing you. Know their idiosyncracies and paint yourself in the best possible light. So, in a predominately (unpracticing) Christian country, portray yourself as (you guessed it) a "middle of the road" Christian. I will not deny that he went to a "school" of mixed theology, but having studied both the Qu'ran and the Judeo-Christian Bible, I will tell you the two don't mix. Go figure.

No, he has never been a Muslim. His father was, which is where he got his name. His mother was "spiritual, but not religious." He became a Christian on his own as a young man, and has remained so ever since. Knowing the stigma that being a Muslim has in this country, however, opponents are quick to try to paint him as Islamic to try to make him look bad. When you don't have a real argument, you tend to make stuff up.

Open Thoughts... How is Islam a "hateful religion" ?
Let me guess... because a few radical Muslims ran some planes into buildings?
I have studied Islam, and it is just as peaceful, if not more peaceful, than Christianity...
I hope you ignorance helps you sleep at night...

And Barrack Obama is a Christian, his father was Muslim... that's all that needs to be said because it shouldn't matter anyway.

No, he went to a Muslim/Christian school as a child. He also became a Christian in his childhood. If you read his book, "Audacity of Hope", it explains it in there.
