My girlfriend and I are looking to move to Arizona and we are finding very cheap new construction in Arizona City. Is it just because of the location or what? It’s a good hour away from Tucson or Phoenix, its kinda’in the middle. Just curious as to why housing is cheaper here than it is in most other places of Arizona. Any help is appreciated.

If you and your girlfriend are retired and don't mind the heat, it's a great way to find affordable housing to live off of your retirement income. Otherwise, it's important to note (zoom in on the map/satellite image to verify for yourself) that not only is this in 'the middle of nowhere', but that the freeway between PHX and Tucson is the only transportation out - and that is one miserably crowded undersized freeway (although I think that they have expanded to two lanes each direction the whole way, now) - particularly during most of the times that I would guess that you would have to commute to work (you may also note the distinct lack of anything that resembles commerce or industry in the area - unless you happen to be fortunate enough to be recruited to something that I don't know about in the area). Casa Grande does have a smallish community college as well as a small medical center, and there are some other things there as well, so if you really want small town living this could definitely work for you. If you are looking to live the Phoenix or Tucson high-opportunity lifestyle, you might want to note that half of the city is over 41 (i.e. read: retirement community).

I'm sure you've heard the adage that the value of real estate is due to three things: location, location, and location.

A quick search on realtor.com shows that many homes are available for about $100,000 there. Those same houses would cost three or four times that here.

It could be that land is plentiful and cheap. It could be that there are no jobs in Arizona City. It's certainly due to the fact that people would rather live closer to Phoenix or Tucson.

Well, midway between Tucson and Phoenix pretty much puts it out in the middle of nowhere. That would explain the relatively low prices, IMHO.

It could be related to the actual location if it is not that close to a major city. Also many homebuilders are in trouble now and have discounted most new builds across the country.

Location, the commute is what is keeping the prices down. You'll find that outside most metro areas.

Real estate is all about location location location. I am sure that is why it is so cheap.
