Should they go after Texeira? LaRoche? Helton? Relief? How much is too much? I think the Red Sox should try to take Texeira for guys like Youkilis, J.D. Drew (they need to get rid of him), Gabbard, Pena, or Murphy. Any better is probably too much. Also, the Red Sox need a future 3rd Baseman, since if Lowell signs with another team, they get two top prospects in the draft. Andy Laroche would be cheap, or we could even go for Miguel Cabrera full on with Jacoby Ellsbury, Aaron Bates, etc. With Drew gone, they can put Brandon Moss there and also acquire Ty wigginton to help him and be a bench player. What do you think?

No matter how you put it, texeira is an upgrade over youkilis, and ellsbury should probably go since we have crisp for a cheap price and ellsbury would fetch much more in return like a superstar. Anyways, ellsbury, once done with his rookie contract, will probably cost tons

Do Red Sox fans believe that any move is necessary to go to the playoffs and win the world series? The Red Sox might make a move if the exact right opportunity comes along but I don't see them making a move just for the sake of adding a player.

The Red Sox needs a good utlity outfielder that can do decent hitting, steals bases and consistent fielding. Wily Mo Pena can't do any of that so he's gone. They could use anothe rgood arm in the bullpen as well. JD Drew isn't going anywhere. No one will take his contract. Youkilis isn't moving either becasue (a) he's a consistent hitter that takes a lot of pitches which means a lot of walks (b) he's developed in a great fielding defensemen that can play 1B, 3B and occasionally OF. (c) he's cheap. Gabbard will probably be dealt because his stock is through the roof and it won't get any higher. Ellsbury will not be dealt since he will be the Red SOx CF next year so Moss or murphy might be dealt.

I highly disagree with you in trading Youkilis, he is hitting WAY to well, and only has 3 errors on the season. I think they should trade Drew and a minor league pitcher for Miguel Tejada, and since he is hurt, he can just be a bench player to add some power, he could kill off that left field wall. Also, I think they should resign Lowell, but if they don't I'd move Youk to 3rd, and get a 1st baseman, since there are alot of 1st baseman available, Like Texeira, or Kanerko, or even Millar. I don't like getting Trot for anything productive, I love him, but he isn't playing well. Maybe get him a front office job when her retires. They really need to pick up a good young catcher, because Tek has been declining over the past couple years, and he is getting older every season. They had those good young catchers, but they had to trade them to get Doug knuckleball catcher extraordinaire back. I think they should not make any moves to their starting lineup until the offseason.

i don't think that currently they need to make any moves, they just need the players they have to warm up, since all the players have great potential. however, in the future we do need to get a good rookie catcher or something, not that i don't like jv, but if anything happens to him, we are toast, in terms of catchers.
