Most computers do not come with external USB hubs. They usually come with 1 to 6 USB sockets.

A USB hub connects to one of these sockets and provides an additional set of them, so you can plug more USB devices into the computer (and it makes the ports easier to reach).

You can pick up an external USB hub from your local big box store or on line for just a couple of bucks. There are two different kinds though. Powered and unpowered. For a little more, I'd get a powered one. This will allow you to plug more stuff in without overloading the USB port. Usually, you will just plug the hub into one of the USB ports on your PC and then be off and running.

Here's one I found just doing a quick search. I don't know the vendor or the brand. But they are out there for under $10.

External USB Hub can be found in any Computer store such as Best Buy, CompUSA, or even Radio Shack, Target, K-Mart, Walmart, and sometimes, BigLots, Walgreens, and RiteAid.

Yes, it's an EXTERNAL (i.e. OUTSIDE OF YOUR COMPUTER!) device that you attach to your computer.
