No, not a chance. The check engine light is only for emissions related sensors and programs that directly relate to the trans and motor of the car. This does include the complete fuel system, but has nothing to do with the trunk unless you punctured the fuel tank or filler neck. Get the module scanned to tell you what code has been set off and go from there. Good luck.

Nope.. I have a 2000 Chevrolet Cavalier and Ive "tinkered" with the trunk electronic switch. My check engine light isnt on.
