My daughter is expecting her first child. Her ob/gyn has advised her to go out and buy an umbilical cord to insert into her uterus so that her unborn baby will have something to feed off of. He says that its easier on the baby than waiting on a new cord to grow.
My daughter and I aren't exactly sure where to go out and buy a fresh, sanitary cord. My neighbor offered to sell her one of her old ones for a pretty reasonable rate. And I also have my old umbilical cords from all of my pregnancies still stored inside of my freezer.
Are these cords still safe to use? Should we go out to a discount store or fresh fish market to try to find a pretty new one? Help please!

I thought it was more interesting when you wrote it this way:

"I just found out last week that I am pregnant with my second child. My ob/gyn has advised me to reinsert my old umbilical cord from my first pregnancy into my uterus so that my unborn baby will have something to feed off of. He says that it is easier and healthier on the baby than waiting for a new cord to grow.
I want my unborn baby to have a healthy snack while growing inside of my uterus. Should I stuff this umbilical cord with small pieces of fresh fruit so that my baby can have a health snack, or should I just leave it as is?"

Are you serious? I hope you are kidding and if not I feel sorry for you that your daughter has a weird doctor and you and your neighbor still have your umbilical cords! Think of the germs! What year is this?

i have never heard of this in my life, let nature take its course and dont mess with it, the umbilical cord grows in the uterus with the baby, the baby will get enough from that, dont mess with a natural thing

You can get them at any state hospital. you should be able to locate them near the cushed white painted wall next to your sleeping mat on the floor. If you cant find one there just ask the attending nurse for assitance, I am sure she will give you a great pill to help you "see" them.

You should try to steal your neighbor's, and save yours for a rainy day.
