No. You buy the retail game and are good to go. However, further expansion packs that can be bought cost more money. So basically, if you're satisfied with the base game, there are no monthly costs.

Should A New Expansion Be Added into Guild Wars 2?
With Guild Wars 2 approaching to two-year anniversary, the topic of an expansion becomes more and more popular than before. Will Living Story be a lead of a big expansion release? If it is, what new continents and new end-game content is coming?http://www.gold4fans.com/News/14081601141172/Info.aspx

No, there is no monthly fee for Guild Wars like there is for World of Warcraft. There are additional features you can buy for your Guild Wars account such as extra player creation slots, you should have enough for your first run with Guild Wars as not everyone likes every single proffession there is.
As you buy more and more "expansions" to the Guild Wars series you'll get 2 extra player creation slots for free. Thats what makes Guild Wars awsome. =)

Nope, no monthly fees and no micro fees either. You have to buy the new campaigns and expansions. (Currently 3 Campaigns and 1 expansion coming at the end of August) if you want all the content, but it isn't necessary. You can buy just 1 campaign if you wish.
If you own all the campaigns you'll have 8 character slots available to you. If you want to create more than 8 characters, you can buy extra slots for $10 apiece, but that's it. No fees for ingame gold, weapons, armor or other items.
You can ignore all the gold seller bots that answer these questions as well. Just about any answer on here that includes a link is just a bot that's trying to direct you to a gold selling site. Never buy from these sites. First of all, it's against the TOS in Guild Wars to buy in game gold for cash and if caught you'll have your account banned. Second, most of these sites install viruses and/or trojan horse programs on your PC to steal your account.

No, Guild Wars is a free online game. Once you buy the game you can log on and play as much as you like. As you play you will kill monsters for both XP and Gold. The gold allows you to buy better weapons and armor.
Hope this helps.

Guild Wars is being developed by ArenaNet, a subsidiary of NCsoft. Rather than have a continuous beta ArenaNet hold Beta weekends, where pre-ordered players and invited friends are allowed to test the game. This weekend was one such event and I was lucky enough to be invited along.
I hope the site can help u

I played monk for a year or more before moving on to my Ele. I always try and defend the back line as well if I can, (PVE and PVP).
In RA/TA i'll blind the melee players first before attacking the softer targets to take pressure of the monk.
I think you have to have played a monk to appreciate this though.
