last night, a local broadcaster likened Cleveland Indians starting pitcher Fausto Carmona to a young Pedro Martinez. I am not much of a stats person so I am interested in feedback on this commentary. On a sidenote, I am greatly disappointed that Adam Miller looks like he will not be a call up this season due to more inflammation with his elbow. Any thoughts on Carmona, Miller, Tribe pitching in general is welcome in this post.

Unlike Pedro, Carmona wont strike out too many hitters. But he is an amazing ground ball pitcher, and that means he wont be giving up too many homeruns. Also he is only 23 years old, so hopefully he gets even better as he matures.

Carmona is having a good year while Pedro is having a great career. It is not fair to try and compare a young pitcher, like Carmona, to one of the best pitchers in the game today. However, Carmona does appear to be solid with a huge upside potential. Adam Miller is 23 years old and the Indians are going to be real careful with him and they won't rush him and risk further health issues. The Indians are solid this year and have a real good shot at the playoffs but I don't see them going deep into the playoffs without another good starting pitcher, which might be hard to find.

that sucks about Miller, I saw he was at the game the other day, while he was in Cleveland to go to the Cleveland Clinic for his elbow.

Fausto is amazing, and even more impressive is how he wasn't good last year when they had him in different relieving spots. I think he will be a great pitcher, and it already on his way. He did a hell of a job last night, against Boston who is aguably, one of the best offenses in the major leagues.

I'm very impressed with Fausto, and I hope the Indians do whatever it takes to keep him.

I feel bad for C.C. that's two games he lost because they didn't give him run support, that's not good.

Carmona is having a lucky season.

He's the same type of pitcher as Chien Ming Wang, only Wang has better stuff.

Carmona is a flash in the pan. Remeber last year, blew about 5 saves in a row. Deep down, that pitcher is still in there and it's bound 2 come out.

No they are completely different. pedro was a strikeout pitcher Carmona has a great sinker and gets a lot of groundballs.

Cormona is on fire right now... He is 13-4 right now which means he's stocking up on wins. Here is a website that tells all his stats and everything from past games. I think Cormona is actually a young Pedro Martinez.
