It's a metaphorical expression of skepticism,
and is not to be taken literally...
which basically is saying, "things are not as easy as they at first might appear to be."
Or, another way of saying...
"how much simpler life would be if tasks that we undertake would be accomplished expeditiously and expediently but, it always seems as if they take longer than they should."

Exactly. The only reason to keep looking is if there were more than one of the items, or you were looking for something better. :-)

good thought...I always enjoy your Q's...so thought provoking...I think that we all need to find things, in the future, in the next to last place we look...that way we won't have to look as hard or as long...what do you think?
