Kitara, you have the answers, just foil out the possibilities and see which one matches. For example, in

18x^2 + 15x + 3,

The choices are
(2x + 1)(3x + 1),
3(2x + 1)(3x + 1), and
3(2x + 1)(x + 1)

Look first at which of those can give you 18x^2 as the first term. The first one can't because 2x * 3x equals only 6x^2, so that one can't be right. The second one has for its first term

3*(2x)(3x) = 18x^2 - A candidate! And the third,

3*2x*x = 6x^2, not a possibility, leaving only the second. So now multiply out the second one to make sure:

3(2x + 1)(3x + 1) =
(6x + 3)(3x + 1) = . . .(now FOIL)
18x^2 + 6x +9x + 3 =

18x^2 + 15x + 3 --match, is correct.

Now use the same technique for the rest.

If these are multiple choice (which I think they are) then you need to use FOIL to test them out in your head or on paper.

Such as for your first question. 5x2 + 9x - 2 (its factor).

The second choice (B?) looks like (5x-1)(x+2).

The first part is to multiply the (F)irst numbers within each set of parenthesis. The second is to multiply the (O)utside numbers furthest left(5x) and furthest right(2). Then The (I)nside numbers (-1) and (x). Last you do the (L)ast numbers of each parenthesis (-1) and (2). Spelling out the FOIL.

5x (x) = 5x2
5x (2) = 10x
-1 (x) = -1x
-1 (2) = -2

Put those in order. If it's a positive number then put a (+) in front of it.
5x2 + 10x - 1x -2

You can combine the (10x -1x)

5x2 +9x -2. It's the correct answer. Do that for the rest.
