Yesterday, the French caught cyclist Christophe Moreni drug cheating. The gendarmes took him away in handcuffs. How would you feel about this being done to other drug cheats?

No, No, No, No,

We've been catching Steroid users for over 20 years.

Until the French began Hating Lance,
and until America Started Hating Barry Bonds

No-One ever brought up Government and Cheaters in Sporting events, until Balco.

We (our Government) has spent over 30 Million investigating Barry and Balco. Total Jail time for all involved equals less than 2 years.

We are too quick to lock people up.

It has already BEEN done to a LOT of other athletes, in different sports. It doesn't seem to have any effect at all on them- they still think that because they are superstar athletes, they are somehow above the law and can do whatever they want. The French doping scandals have had disasterous impacts on the sport of cycling- in fact, there is currently a push underway to get that sport removed from the Olympics before next year's Games. My own take on this is that yes, cycling probably should be banned from the Olympics, and that the media should stop their coverage of it. It's sad, yes- but until the sport cleans up its act, almost no one I know is going to pay much attention to it. It disgusts me how these athletes, many of whom have far more money than they do brains, always seem to get away with crimes which get ordinary people sent away for life in some cases. I use OJ Simpson as an example. The only reason he's not on death row right now is because the LAPD botched its case. He either murdered Nicole and her friend, or he knows who did- but because of the double jeopardy clause in our Constitution, he is now completely beyond the reach of our legal system, and is living the high life in Florida. There are lots of other cases like this involving star athletes who get off scott free when they are really guilty of whatever they were charged with. It sickens and saddens me a lot of the time, but hauling athletes off in handcuffs really doesn't do anything to stop them from committing crimes or from cheating. There will always be people who try to get something for nothing, or who think the world owes them a living. The only thing that the rest of us can do is just make sure that we don't support or get involved with someone like this. Just my thinking....

I guess the French really take their cycling seriously. There must be a legal statute allowing for arrest in cases of blood doping. Unless the doping substance is contraband and a federally controlled substance, I don't think people should be arrested for having trace amounts in their system.
