I do associate the two.
If I have no respect for the actor then I feel no respect for their work.
I've missed you on here Mr Lt Dan, hope all is well and your toe is OK....

Sometimes, it does, depending on the circumstances. If it's a really young person, I give them the benefit of the doubt. I can only imagine the confusion in their head about life and self esteem, etc. However, if it's an older star, well, I guess I think they should know better by now and choose to do the right thing. They have a responsibility to there fans. They get big bucks to act appropriately and not like some dork. I guess I lose some respect for them and I no longer enjoy their movies.

I do actually associate the two.
There are just celebrities that cannot behave well and in my opinion cannot find out of behaving in an appropriate manner.
And im not going to line their pockets with gold.
I do believe that celebrities should be more aware of their following of fans and the influence they extend into the lives of such. In particular to young people that idolises them. Britney Spears is undoubtedly a very unhappy soul, but that is no excuse for behaving like that. Being a celebrity is a huge responsibility.
For instance I wouldn't want to watch a film with Jon Voight after the things about his stinginess and the treatment of his daughter (saying that she is insane in a TV interview and cheating repeatedly on his previous wife, allegedly)
However much I admire Robert Downey Jr and his immense talent I always have to do mental work because he is ever so famous for his past controversial behaviour off camera.
Having said all this I must admit it depends on the star status. The bigger stars the less I dissaprove...

Yes, I would say so, although most Hollywood stars have issues. But there are certain movies I would not see because of the star, I am so sick of Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes, Brad and Angelina, Lindsay Lohan, mostly stars that are either dragged to the ground in media, or ones that are rich and throw their life away for drugs and alcohol.

basically, i think the only hting celebrities are teaching everyone is that looks are the most important thing. it seems like celebs dont have any fricking brains left. not only that, but it also seems as if celebs dont care that they have a major impact on young people. if they did, then why do they act the way they do? i think that people like lindsay lohan, the spears, paris hilton, and all the celebs alike should be rid of there priveledges and see how they impact so many young lives. its ridiculous that tv has constant coverage on drug overdoses, anorexic celebs, rehab, and all the other bull crap bc again, it can influence a young person on making the wrong decisions. i dont know how to explain my opinions in a rational manner on this subject, but now a days whenever im flipping through the channels and see the "scoop" on celebs it just pisses me off.

There are certain movie stars' films I refuse to go see or watch. They are the ones who tend to be the most vehement in their political views.
Personal troubles, like Lindsey Lohan is going through, wouldn't stop me from seeing a movie. We all make mistakes and I just feel really badly for her wasting her talent this way.

Lt. Why would I care about their personal life? There are many actors who are real losers in their lives but I love the way they act and at the same time there are many actors who are sooo popular, loved and followed but their movies suck. I go to a movie because I wanna see it, if I wanna see the star I would open a tabloid magazine or a website that deals with this stuff, what I usually never do.

Well stars don't have personal lives. I mean all they are is giant balls of burning gas. Oh, you mean spoiled celebrities. Well they don't seem to have much in the way of personal lives. Everything they do is held under microscopes and dissected by their "adoring fans", who tend to spread rumors about them, all under the guise of truly caring about the selected victim... er um (cough, cough) I mean heroes. No wonder so many celebrities end up in rehab, life in the fishbowl ain't all the glitter they were expecting!
As far as the question, if the movie is worth seeing,I would probably still go see it. Unless of course, the main star happened to have killed or maimed someone or really screwed up. Then I might have a hard time supporting them.

Personal life of an actor has nothing to do with my decision to choose a movie.
Acting talent, story, direction, setting and plot has a lot of influence on me than the actor himself/herself.
Good looks help too, but in importance to watch a good movie this one is last in the list nevertheless - it is in the list.
You have to agree on this one - when you watch a really really good movie, you feel wholesome and satisfied with such an entertainment. Many oscar winners fall in this category.
Will I stop listening to a song because that talented musician is a drug/alcohol/sex addict? NO. Same about sportsmen/women.
Same for politicians.....(may be some exceptions here, OK can't extend this too far....)

No. Talent and story dictate it. Same with Pete Rose in baseball. He goofed up as a manager. That doesn't take away from his playing days and should be in the HOF. Lindsay Lohan is just a spoiled rich kid who needs to sit in a cell for a while and get her head straight.

Lindsay Lohan has some mild issues - Tom Cruise is troubled! I don't think I could ever take him even remotely serious in a film.
