I want a flat black but don't know where I can get the paint or if there's a certain type.

there are probably specific paints used for this type of thing bu ti don't know what they are. you could just ask at a reputable music store. i know it sounds goofy but, auto paint is one of the most durable. if you're taking it apart and only have to mask a small part of it, ask a body shop how much it would cost to paint it. i know many people who've used auto paint for a meriad of things.

Do NOT paint your guitar!!! - IF... it is an American made guitar, or has ANY possibility of becoming a collector's item because this will lower the value of the guitar, perhaps a LOT. Better to get another guitar body "blank" and paint it instead, or buy a guitar that is already flat black.
