Cats' personalities appeal to the 'feminine' in us, which is why so many women like them. Many men like them too, and these are the men who are well-rounded individuals who are confident in themselves and their innate masculinity.
Men who dislike cats are those who are afraid of their feminine side, those who are scared of releasing softer feelings that might engulf them - often those who are closet homosexuals.

I like cats, but don't have any now, & when I did have a cat, I wasn't obsessed with having one, it just made a great companion when I was going through some really tough times in my life. I know a lot of men who like cats & own them.

Although I have dogs now, I've enjoyed cats throughout my life.
Perhaps some men that don't like cats equate them with femininity.
