I have a 2002 Mitsubishi Lancer ES. The oil light doesn't stay on and only flashes when I hit the breaks. The oil level is good.

Probably something is blocking the oil pickup tube in the oil pan.. when you step on the brakes the oil moves away from the pickup. Only way to know is to remove the oil pan.

If it has always done this, you may have the wrong dipstick and therefore not enough oil. To check- change the oil and then read the dipstick. if it reads high or low then the dipstick is at fault.

Dont hit the brakes so hard.

Usually they can come on when it's almost time to get your oil changed....

Even if you have your oil changed the mechanic probably didn't reset it in the computer.
