Barry wanted to be loved like Willie Mays, he figured if he was good enough, people would love him. He has been scorned by the media since the 80s, and his surliness stems from the scorn he receives no matter the achievement. I mean at 43 he reaches bases 50% of the time, 5% more often then the nearest player. It is time to give him his due.

As far as athletes go... Bonds might come close. A lot of people think O.J. still has a seat at the top.
Let's not forget Michael Vick's stock has been dropping lately.

Actuall president Bush is even less rejected. Bush has a near 40% approval rating.

Im sure Bonds approval or Vick for that matter are under 20%.

Being a great baseball player doesn't mean people will like you. Bonds does not have the personality to be liked and I don't believe he puts forth much of an effort toward that goal, if it is a goal. His management, players, and the press don't like him and he blows off the fans, including little kids, and he won't have anything to do with them. Is it any wonder he is having problems with his image? Even a great baseball player has to earn respect, it doesn't come free without any kind of effort.

Well, if you're looking for sports figures who're in deep doo-doo for now, let's not forget Michael Vick.

Besides, Barry loves himself enough to make up for any love the public doesn't give him.

The ****, VP Cheney, has about the lowest ranking possible.

What Bonds has done, is doing, or will do, isn't going to kill anyone.
