for some insight as to how you felt.... and why it seems some men are so "selfish" to continue affairs.... knowing they'd never leave their wife... Do guys have affairs because they secretly want out of their marriages...

I refer to the man being selfish here because he is the one who says he is...

and yes women are just as selfish... I was selfish in that I wanted him once a week..... but not so in the sense that I didn't want him to leave his wife and kids.... weird... but I wanted him to be good to his wife....and family.

I couldn't love him if he wasn't good to them..

Never have. Never will. Cheating is the most cowardly thing a spouse can do. If you have a problem with your marriage, then you should work on it and find a solution. If you can't, then you should get a divorce. Then you can sleep with whomever you want to. Cheating is for pathetic losers who don't know how to handle their problems. It is also a good way to bring a disease home to your family, or to cost your children their resources should someone outside the marriage end up pregnant due to the affair. Not good.

If you are involved with an affair, then you should quit it, cold turkey, right away. It is the ONLY smart thing to do, whether you be the man or woman, the married one or the unmarried one. And if you are an unmarried woman waiting for a married man to leave his wife, then don't hold your breath.

Cheating is inexcusable in my opinion. It does nothing but hurt the OTHER person in the relationship. Why someone would get into a relaitonship with a married person knowing full well there's a spouse on the other side getting screwed over, and completely unaware of it is beyond my understanding. People are such selfish prats.

I am not proud of it but I was with a married man for three years. One night a friend called me and told me he was at a local bar with a woman. I was so upset that he hadn't come over to see me in almost a week. So I got in the car and went to the bar and told his wife who I was. She was furious and tried to hit me but he stepped between her and I. That was about 6 years ago and as far as I know they are still together. He always said he couldn't leave because of the kids.

Nope, not long term, not short term. Cheating is not the domain of men only.

I am aware of women who were/are in long term affairs.

When I see these things I am glad I am single again. I won't make judgments because it's not my life.

I try to set an example for my kids to follow.

it is not just guys who are the selfish ones. women can be just as selfish too, that gets so old that people always say it is always the guys who are the one and they forget that women are the same way too, not all but they are out there.
