The song was released in the mid 90's and i remember it being on one of the 'Now that's what i call music' cds. I'm pretty sure it's not the original song.
The song was called 'Oh what a night!' (Late December back in 63).

I think that you are remembering the version of "What a Night"
by the Jersey Boys. It was also done earlier by the Four Seasons.
