It will indeed restart periods, but these do not indicate ovulation, just hormone withdrawal bleeds, so this is not relevant if you are trying to get pregnant, and will in fact continue to suppress ovulation, making things worse. If you had your last depot injection in March it will take another month or so to wear off. Though injections are given 12 weekly, they take a bit longer to wear off, 16 weeks would be a good guess. I am afraid you can't speed this up, just wait a couple more weeks, if you do not start to bleed your GP might consider Clomid which does kick start ovulation.

No, birth control pills supress ovulation, just like the Depo does. You are still in the time frame where Depo would still have had an influence and your body needs to re-establish it's own hormonal cycle. The pill would not be want you wanted, if you do indeed want to get pregnant any time soon. You will probably need to experience a couple normal cycles before that's going to be a good possibility. Birth control would not likely kick start your cycles, as a matter of fact it would probably mess them up. Just be patient while your body sorts things out. In the meantime, you might want to have a discussion with your gyn about your future plans to get some input there. And start taking a good multivitamin with folic acid now- before you get pregnant. It's a real help to avoid neurological problems for the baby to come. Be patient, practice, practice, practice, and good luck!

Yeah it does, it may take a few months though.
I was on depo for four years, after my last shot I went on Kariva and got my periods back after three pill packs.
I'm going to stop taking Kariva next April and then see what happens with conceiving.
It could take you up to or over a year to get your periods back. Some on depo actually had to seek a fertility specialist. I only hope you don't have to go through that (or I!).
Good luck!

have a chat to your doctor.
i think it is best for you to let them come back as normal because if you go on the pill and then want a child you are goin to wait a while for the pill to regulate your periods then you wil have to wait after you have stopped the pill, to get pregnant.
I would leave your body to regulate itself then you know you arent pumping hormones into your body which could have an effect on your baby.
Hope you manage to get pregnant and have a beautiful healthy child - they are truely a blessing. All the best. xxx

the periods u get on the pill are only withdrawal bleeds not real periods so i dont think so. probably best not to mess about with any more hormones and wait for yr body to kickstart naturally.
