It's opposites that attract, or similarities?

I think if you're opposites in fundamental thinking/values, then it won't attract, coz you basis thinking is different. On the other hand, if your basic thinking is similar, but you have different habits or virtues, then it can be nice, since you'll have what the other lacks and vice versa. Like if you're too serious, he's rather laid-back, then being with him will make relax you a bit, etc.
But if the basic thinking/principles of two people are different, then they might still get attracted to each other, but I don't understand how they can stay together for long, even if they like same movies or same music etc.

My husband and I are opposites. I can make choices for good or bad, and he sits on the fence! Grrr! I speak up if something is bothering me and he internalizes everything! But, we have been married 42 years!

I believe similarities get along better.
Well that's my experience anyway.
My husband and i love the same things and we get along like a house on fire.
We are also clean freaks ,so that helps too.lol

Nah I think more often than not like attracts like.
You're more likely to hear people say "we're so right together, we have so much in common!" than "we're so right together, we're really different"
