Ok well I'd have to say I always like the idea of a story where our heroes are batttling against overwhelming odds. And Kids are always good hero/heroine's. Not sure about the changing into animals thing though, does have an element of HP to it. And would need to have some coherency as to why the school would be doing that.
Taking over the world by controlling time is a bit Tomb Raider-ish ( although you are using a different artifact, which is good)
I agree though that taking over the world is a bit old hat. Depending on your intended audience you might want to have a thought about making it something that they are more likely to care about and thus become involved in.
Having said all that I admire the fact that you are writing a book, I don't think it's something I could do even though I read an awful lot of books, usually 3 at the same time. So good luck!!

I thought I was but since I am on Harry Potter 7 I am ready for a new read. I was a mom of two toddlers when Harry Potter 1 came out and at 43 I gave myself a motorized Hogwarts Castle and Hagrids hut for Christmas. I had Santa give me the train. I vote for the kids as only on page 442 on Tuesday the 24th. I am a mom still. Cant read all day.

It seems like it would be kind of juvenile. It would have to be amazingly written for me to enjoy it. I'm not talking like Harry Potter (very poorly written book); I am talking about books like A Million Little Pieces or the Curious Incedent of the Dog in the Nighttime. The stories are bland, but the perspective and writing is phnomenal. If the mechanics were astounding, I would surely read it.

No, because I not interesting in that kind of imaginery story at my age but I do hope the teacher can make student realize is just a story and you suppose to enjoy reading it .. I hope you really enjoy reading it ... I like "Animal Farm" when i was in high school... even I was forces to study the heavy british english but i enjoy the editor describing every animal representing each political issue... fun ..

Yes to the first part, but the whole taking over the world thing is just not sophisticated enough for today's readers regardless of age. Your villain needs a better/more original motive.
