Poor application and a seeming unwillingness to train and do some hard yards away from the field seems to be India's troubles. They dont seem to have a fully committed attitude to training, so how are they meant to excel? How do you think Australia got so good?? Because they pushed themselves at training as if it were a match, and kept working to continually improve themselves. The Indian team seem to just want to sit back and think it will be all OK when the get on the field. THe sad thing is that Greg Chappell tried to change that, but got criticised, with many saying it was not the Indian way. Well until they look at themselves and realise they may need to change a few things, then they will stay in this shape for a while.

India have had good players but they've never really been a dominant Test cricket force. So I don't know what you mean by decline.

BCCI because they have miserably failed to unearth talented youngsters and groom them up as match winning players. India do not have any bench strength of International standards to replace the senior players who will be retiring very soon

BCCI is fully responsible for all this failure...All the players are sliding down due to the absence of good coach and good captaincy....The fate of the Indaian crkt team is really in a very very bad state........

Not too bad yet! The factors that stop us from doing really well, are motivation, team work, fitness and, some times, poor selection and training state! we are not consistent --comparable to WIndies and Sree Lanka!

Poor captaincy.
Ageing problem.
Non-infusion of young bloods.
Regionalism.
Non professional mangement.
Aping of the "Aussie"(!) cricket.
