I know that if you are taking the pill that you have to use an alternative method as the antibiotics reduce the absorbtion of the pill. But the injection is straight into a muscle and is once every 10 weeks. So is it affected?

It will not affect contraceptive injection, for the reason you have given.

Antibiotics cause birthcontrol pills and injections to be ineffective. Be sure to use a back up method of birth control (condoms).

im not anexpert but i always thought the reason the pill didnt work with antibiotics is they can upset yr stomach and cause the pill to go thru yr system too quick. if thats the case it shouldnt apply to the injection. to be sure u should check with yr doc or whoever giving u the injection.

OH GOD YES
I have 2 kids and I love them dearly but both are the result of failed contraception
1st one I got drunk and threwup but was so drunk I forgot I was sick and the oral contracetive failed
2nd one had the injection then got serious throat infection had some strong antibiotics wham there you go again
I was married so not really a biggie but if you want my advice
ALWAYS use a barrier method as a back up

Yes it is. All contraceptives are affected by antibiotics. You should have told your doctor or pharmacist about other medication you are taking and they would have told you this.
