what's a good sealant / glue to apply in the part or corner where the wooden wall meets the wooden ceiling? Our guest room has this leak whenever the rains are strong and it isn't even on the top floor... Anyway, aside from having the ceiling dismantled, I've decided to just apply a sealant on the areas where I see the entry of water. Since I've already identified the water's path through the gaps, could anyone recommend a good sealant that is water tolerant and doesn't corrode/break easily? I plan to seal those gaps save for one spot. Basically, it's to reroute the leaks to just one spot so that it becomes easier to handle.

Suggestions would be greatly appreciated (not involving me to dismantle / take apart anything).

Titebond III is an excellent wood glue, that cleans up with water, but after setting, is water proof.

You REALLY need to eliminate that water from getting in, rather than 'rerouting' it. If it comes in only when it rains really hard, then you should look for where it is coming in at. Leaving this matter unresolved is only going to cost you more money and time to fix later. Besides the water damage to the interior, and structure, you're going to end up with a mold problem -- and that can be very hazardous.

Good Luck

You are attempting to fix an effect of a leaking roof. Look to fix the problem, the leak, and don't worry about the ceiling and wall. If you stop the water from entering the home, no more leak at the ceiling.

If you simply seal the area, all you will be doing is making the water go somewhere else and cause more damage somewhere else. You are talking about treating a symptom instead of cureing the problem.

You need to find out where the roof is leaking and have it fixed. Water damage is the number one cause of hidden damage to houses. Out of sight out of mind does not apply here. You are looking for major problems.

your asking for trouble. what you need to do is find where the water is coming in it could be that a window just needs to be re caulked when its dry out have someone spray the nearest window to the leak with a hose if that doesn't make the leak check your siding and flashing . if its your window have them all re-caulked in the long run this is the cheapest way to fix it because mold cleanup isn't cheap or healthy. and insurance company's wont cover it because it's considered "negligence"

even if you seal that spot it will just travel to a new spot. or build up and you won't have to worry about tearing the ceiling apart it will be on the floor------you have to find the source
