If its a sock than it will be easy to retrieve unless you've plunged it to far down the drain. Go to any hardware or home center and ask for a "closet auger". Its a drain snake that's designed specifically for toilets.
You just put it in, push while cranking, pull back and you should have a sock on it

This is what I've done in several homes that have dropped things like a cell phone, toys, etc into bowls.
Take a coat hanger, a wire one of course, dip all the water out, as much as possible. You can bend the hanger to fit way back into the "S" in the toilet, just maybe you can hook the socks. They've expanded greatly now due to water.
With a pliers put a tight sharp hook at the end, like a fishhook to catch the socks, maybe you'll be lucky.
You might have to take the toilet off and go from the underside. Lot's of work. Good luck

First go buy a new wax toilet ring, costs about $3 or so at a hardware store or Walmart. Then take the toilet off the floor by unbolting it. Remove the socks (not asking how they got dropped in LOL), remove the old wax ring, put on the new one, replace the toilet and rebolt it. Simple, fast, easy, and you have your socks back! Good luck!
