Lou Gehrig gets my vote as well.

He doesn't have the best stats -- that would be Ruth -- but his numbers are pretty darn good. .340 BA (17th best all time), .447 OBP (5th best all time), and .632 SLG.(3rd best all time)

In 1936, the first year without the Babe, Gehrig had 205 hits, 49 HRs, a .354 BA, .478 OBP, .696 SLG and was the MVP of the league.

A great clutch hitter, his record of 23 grand slams still stands today.

As good as he was during the regular season, he was even better in the post-season -- .361 BA, .477 OBP, .731 SLG.

I'm voting for The Iron Horse because he was the finest person to ever set foot on a baseball diamond.

It is tough to say concidering most of the players played long before I was born. I would say the Babe as well, but I never got to see him play. I do think that if the current players such as Jeter or A-Rod stays with the Yankees that they could be the next best thing. A-Rod is already on a record pace to destroy the records book. That and these Yankee players both young and old, as far as I know, do not take drugs to enhance their game. That is why I like the Yankees. I think any Yankee could be the best in baseball for this very reason.

The Iron Man, Lou Gehrig. He hit for power. He had great personal courage in just getting his chance at starting--poor Wally Pipp. He had the good fortune of playing with Ruth and DiMaggio but was not ever "third best." He showed that great personal courage at the end of his career when he knew that he was dying of ALS. He didn't even quit then. He continued to work for the City of New York until he was too sick to move. He gets my vote. And I am a Red Sox fan.

Imagine being an AL pitcher in the late 30s and having to face a lineup with Ruth, DiMaggio and Gehrig.

DiMaggio and Ruth were great, and get all of the accolades they deserve, but Gehrig had a special character trait that would have made him a key part of American life for another 30 or 40 years if he had not died so young.

Best all around Yankee player is Joe DiMaggio. His stats and overall performance with NY is exceptional.

I'm also glad to have the honor of paying my respects to him in Colma, CA because he's buried at the same cemetery as my dad. He, Mickey Mantle, Lou Gehrig and Babe Ruth are cornerstones of the Yankee past and are glad to have them as part of baseball history.

Babe Ruth.

He was in a different league. Base was hitting alot of Hr's even in the dead ball era. There has never been anyone quite like him.

By the end of his career, A-rod will have better stats though. But will be be considerd a true Yankee?

Kei Igawa.

He was defenitely worth all the money the Yankees paid him. With how he gets shelled and loses everytime he's out, he's by far my favorite Yankee player.
