You know cut down on stuff back here at home so our troops in battle can be better equipped etc..

and since War on terror is so crucial as we are being told all the time, why has a draft not yet been instituted, and why have we not started a young people's military club for those youth 12 and older 14 to begin to learn military discipline, etc???

I mean this war on terror is serious, but I dont see us acting much like it is...just a lot of talk but no action.

No. We should bring our troops in Iraq home, let the reserves go back to their loved ones, and redeploy the regulars to Afghanistan. We can afford to do that.

While I agree with you that we aren't taking it seriously enough, I'm not sure we need rationing at this time or the draft or the young people's military club.

We should look for ways to increase participation in the war on terror. Gas rationing might not be a bad idea--by the way it was done in World War II to make sure gasoline was available to civilians who needed it.

I think you are partly proposing cures for which there is no known disease. We certainly need to consider certain steps--such as better management of the media--in the war on terror, but I'm not sure we need either a draft or rationing yet.

By the way, any of these things would likely need Congressional approval.

Rationing is not necessary. The troops have all the food, bullets and gasoline they require. Anything they lack is typically high-tech stuff like synthetic armor for Humvees. Rationing wouldn't manufacture these components any faster.

A draft has not been reinstated because:

a.) it would be politically unpopular.

b.) we have enough troops in the US military.

It is not necessary at this time but if that is what it comes down to, of course we should, just as we did during WWII.

The cost of maintaining freedom and our peaceful sovereignty could never be too high.

If we have enough troops, why are soldiers having to do multiple tours of duty?
