You can try doing a little maintenance on your computer by using defrag and disk cleanup (Programs, Accessories, System Tools). But depending on the size of your disk and the space available, it may be more feasible to buy an external hard drive. Hope this helps.

Just put in more hard drive for more space, unfortunately Windows is way behind Linux in making it run right off a CD complete with everything expected from a normal machine. So if you uninstalled whatever Windows let you do that is it, Windows itself can't be uninstalled.

There are many ways to add hard drive why don't you just buy a complete USB External Drive so you don't have any tinkering to do? That maybe most cost-inefficient but most fool-proof way to add space for downloading, just remember to tell Windows to use there to store that download file.
