alternate way : change fraction into decimals and then compare
taking lcd : first write all the numbers in their prime factorisation
form like
3 = 3 = 3^1
4 = 2X2 = 2^2
8 = 2x2X2 = 2^3
6=2X3 = 2^1X3^1
5= 5 =5^1
now take the highest power of each element and multiply them
like 2 has max power of 3
so, lcd =2^3X3^1X5^1 =8X3X5 = 120
now for arranging : multiply fraction(both numerator and denominator) with such a number such that its denominator becomes lcd
like 1/3 = 1X40/3X40 =40/120
2/4 = 2X30/4X30 = 60/120
and then arrange the fraction in the ascending order with respect to numerators.

Get the LCD of the following denominators:
3, 4, 8 / 2
3, 2, 4 / 2
3, 2, 2 / 2
3, 1, 1 / 3
1, 1, 1
LCD = 2 * 2 * 2 * 3 or 24
1/3 = 8/24, 2/4 =12/24, 5/8 = 15/24
Ascending order: 1/3, 2/4, 5/8
Get the LCD:
3, 8, 6, 4, 5 / 2
3, 4, 3, 2, 5 / 2
3, 2, 3, 1, 5 / 2
3, 1, 3, 1, 5 / 3
1, 1, 1, 1, 5 / 5
1, 1, 1, 1, 1
LCD: 2 * 2 * 2 * 3* 5 = 120
1/3 = 40/120, 2/8 = 30/120, 1/6 = 20/120, 2/4 = 60/120, 3/5 = 72/120
Sequence: 1/6, 2/8, 1/3, 2/4, 3/5

1/3,2/4.5/8 their denominators are 3.4,and 8.so their lowest common multiple (L.C.M.)is 24
then you get 1/3=8/24
2/4=12/24
5/8=15/24
here we go, 1/3<2/4<5/8
1/3,2/8,1/6,2/4,3/5 their denominators are 3,8,6,4 and 5.their LCM is 120
1/3=40/120
2/8=30/120
1/6=20/120
2/4=60/120
3/5=66/120
so 1/6<2/8<1/3<2/4<3/5
Got it?^-^
